The 2024 back-to-school sales tax holiday season begins this weekend and there are thirteen states and Puerto Rico offering a sales tax holiday for school supplies during the months of July and August. Products that are eligible according to the statute include “items normally used by students in a standard classroom for educational purposes.”
If you happen to live in one of these lucky states, you can save on tax for select items!
Saving 6% – 10% tax for some states can really save some money.
(I was surprised to see Tennessee and Arkansas are around 9.5% sales tax)
Watch the dates – they are different for each state and some states have a maximum $ for an item. (That would affect just a few items like the marker collections – see the limits in brackets)
Alabama JULY 19–21 ($50 item limit)
Arkansas August 3-4 (no $ limit)
Florida July 29– AUG 11 ($50 item limit)
Massachusetts August 10-11 (no $ limit)
Mississippi July 12-14 ($100 item limit)
Missouri August 2-4 ($50 item limit)
New Mexico August 2-6 ($30 item limit)
Ohio July 30-August 8 (no $ limit)
Puerto Rico July 19-20 (no $ limit)
South Carolina August 2-4 (no $ limit)
Tennessee July 26-28 ($100 item limit)
Texas August 9-11 ($100 item limit)
Virginia August 2-4 ($20 item limit)
West Virginia August 2-5 ($50 item limit)
AND…Massachusetts and Ohio, you get a special treat because the WHOLE Stampin’ Up Catalog
is tax free for you during your dates!
You can print the flyer here or you can add all to your cart and edit from there:
