Christmas Rose Upcycled Bottles

We recently had a craft day in our neighborhood and we painted some bottles.
(Not sure why we all had so many empty wine and mead bottles:)
I threw some acrylic paint, gloves, Mod Podge and a hot glue gun in my bag and at the last minute grabbed some of the Christmas Rose designer paper.

My friend Jan has already spray painted this bottle with a cream speckled paint:

I cut out some of the flowers from the paper
and glued them on with the Mod Podge.

After adhering all the flowers, I lightly brushed some gold shimmer paint in long strokes over the whole bottle. I hot glued the twine, leaves and pine cones to make it more festive|
(thank you, Cathy for the pine cones!)

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like it, the vintage look can be a hit or miss with me but in the end I like how it came out!

If you are feeling crafty today, check your designer paper scraps and the recycle bin
and see what you can create!

The Christmas Rose suite of products is available until the end of November

Video: Holiday Card Swaps

Some of my Florida team of demonstrators got together recently for a shoebox swap to make holiday cards. A shoebox swap is where each person cuts and preps 10 cards for example, all the same design. The boxes can all be set out and each person assembles one of each card, taking home 10 completed cards.
It’s a fun event and they surprised me by sending me one of each card,
so I’m sharing with you!
(My video cut a little short at the end but thank you
to each of my team who shared their cards with me! )

Note – I’m posting with a new format for video
so if you can’t see it or have troubles, let me know

Coming Soon!

November 1st- November 30th (while supplies last)

A Potluck, an Opossum and Nature’s Beauty

I needed two special thank you cards for some nice volunteers!
We had our annual HOA potluck/town hall meeting yesterday here in our little NC neighborhood.   To get some more participation and members to our meeting, I invited 2 wonderful people from the NC Wildlife Commission to come and give a talk on our local wildlife.  Lisa and Jennifer brought a few ‘guests’ with them.

Hermione the opossum and Ella the white squirrel
(not an albino, but we get white ones around here:)

Hermione was a clear surprise to us all!
So mellow and sweet and SOFT.  I had no idea they were so soft.  They are the unsung heroes in our backyards, eating up 10,000 or more ticks a year to help us with diseases.  It’s also very rare they carry rabies because they body temp is very low and they are very clean.

Nature’s Beauty is a pretty stamp set in the Holiday catalog.
A portion of every sale goes toward mental health organizations in your area.  In the US , donations will be made to NAMI. (You can read more about NAMI on their blog HERE)

As our Stampin’ Up founder ,Shelli Gardener, mentions in her 2019 holiday catalog message, “The holidays can . . . present emotional challenges for some, and simply sharing a handmade card will brighten anyone’s day. However, in those cases where extra help is needed, Stampin’ Up! wants to lend a hand. To this end, we are donating a portion of each sale of the Nature’s Beauty s. “And remember,” as Shelli advises, “nurture your own wellness as you watch for those who may need additional love and support.” Together, we will make a difference.

I started with an Early Espresso card stock base, added a layer of wood grain designer paper and then used watercolor paper to stamp and color the main images.

Go stamp something!

and if you see an opossum, be kind:)

NC Apple Festival + Teacher Cards….

Labor Day weekend in the western carolinas is always the Apple Festival!  Downtown turns into an apple wonderland with over 150 vendors and food…oh the apple pies, apple tarts, caramel apples, apple fritters!   We celebrate apples around here
and so I ordered the new Apple punch from the Stampin’ Up Holiday catalog!

AND it can be a pumpkin, too.  We like versatility.

I had a request from a customer for 35 Back-to-School teacher cards she can do quickly
I grabbed an old circle layout and added some basket weave embossing as the background. (After I made them I thought the brick folder would have been great for school theme, too)

I love the option of pumpkins for fall!

Same layout, just swapped out Real Red for Old Oive card.  The basket weave is Crumb Cake and the layer is Early Espresso with the same espresso ink.

I adhered the circles on and then trimmed off the excess.

A few more ideas from the SU home office for the Harvest Hello bundle

Here are the basic supplies I used from my stampin’ Up store.  If you click the photos, it will take you over there
