Hello all!
We thought we left hurricanes behind when we moved to NC from FL but we didn’t!
Hurricane Helene really punched our area here in Western NC.
It’s a mess here, no power or water, but neighbors helping eachother has been heartwarming. Lots of trees down and clean up but somehow our place was one that didn’t get a tree on our roof! We are 1/2 way up a small mountain so we are not getting flooding as they did downtown. For us it is the 25 inches of rain in a few days makes the tree roots too wet and they fall, which lands on power lines and uproots the water pipes.
The hardest part was no facebook, internet or phone calls except for a few texts (and even that was intermittent!)
Thankfully the phone service was restored and I can respond to your emails again!
No video or posts for me this week until power comes back. We are fine and at least the weather is cool!
Today we venture out to find a store open and try to get gas for generators here in the neighborhood.
If you emailed me an order, I can do that today now that I have phone service. Thank you for checking in, prayers and sending good vibes our way!

Praying for you and everyone ! Stay safe !
GLAD YOU GUYS ARE OK IM HERE IN OCALA AND WE GOT A LITTLE RAIN NOT MUCH WIND, A COUPLE MORE ARE COMING I UNDERSTAND. GOOD LUCK LOVE TO YOU BOTH, BILLIE
Glad to hear you are ok!
Glad u guys are safe. Here’s hoping u get electric back soon. Take care. Prayers to all
Linda, I am thinking and praying for all those impacted. LOTS of roads closed in and out of certain areas. All the water has devastated the roads. The system that moved through the State on Tuesday dumped so much water on the state. Good luck with the search for supplies.
So glad that you all are ok. I thought the same thing about my move to NC. We have trees down and many people without power. But I am fortunate. It could have been worse. We had our big trees trimmed and 2 trees removed a couple of weeks. I think that helped us. But next door a tree did fall on their house. All we hear are chain saws working hard all day.
Please be safe.

So glad you are safe and managed to miss damage to your property. Funny, 13 years ago, I moved from Florida (Ocala) to North Carolina (Calabash – on the NC/SC border, southeastern NC right next to Myrtle Beach). We had rain and some winds, but the western side of our state was hammered. Now I hear we are in for another one shortly.
My heart goes out to our friends in the affected areas!! I’m glad you guys are ok. Sending hugs and prayers! Carolyn from Arkansas
Glad you’re safe.
So glad you are ok.
Praise the Lord! So glad your home was not hit by a tree and you are safe!! What were the chances you left Florida only to have a hurricane find you in NC?
I am glad you are safe. What a mess there is in your area.
I live in Vermont and have had to deal with a hurricane and storms in the past few years. Take care.
Linda, so happy to hear you are safe and your home was not damaged. Hopefully your electric will be restored soon. Thinking & praying for you and those in the affected areas of this storm. Hugs!
I’m praying that soon your services will be on . I’m thanking God that your house was not hit.
We are so glad to hear you are ok and at least connected again!
Thank God you are okay. I’ve been wondering and praying.
Joni
