Video: One Sketch, Lots of Card Ideas!

As a demonstrator,  I get a weekly newsletter from Stampin’ Up with updates and sometimes a technique idea.  I really liked this card layout or sketch – the colors and the simplicity.    (Timid Tiger, Crisp Cantaloupe and White.)
I tried it first with my Simply Leaves punch bundle, then I changed up the colors to a muted Cloud Cover/Secret Sea combo.  One more as a holiday card, adding a few more layers.

I definitely like the SU sample better….but I do like how easy the punched leaves are, too.
Same Timid Tiger Card base but theirs looks brighter and more Pumpkin Pie.  I like that too.

This one is my favorite – Cloud Cover and Secret Sea are a calm color combo.

This was the first time using the Frosted Pinecones bundle – looking forward to playing with it more!

Good Things Coming on Oct 6th

The October Product of the Month is REALLY good!  A set of 23 Star dies – layering and solid stars.
The largest star is 5-1/4″!

Stampin’ Up launches a new item on the first Tuesday of each month so we have to wait until Oct 6th…..

I really like this simple card using just the Painted Patch designer paper.  I cut the leaves with Peaceful Pine cardstock and I really like how it goes so well with the Pool Party card base.


I make cards for the new neighbor welcome packet.  I added a few birds from Cutest Crew:)


A little paper piecing by stamping and cutting out pumpkins from the Autumn Opulence designer paper.

Video: Letterpress Technique with Inked Dies

A few weeks ago I asked if you wanted me to show you how to emboss with the hot foil or impressions dies.
I started out embossing and inking but ended up with something I like even more!  And through some experimenting with layers, turns out you can get a perfectly inked impression without a rubber pad!  It’s all about the sandwich or layers….

Stampin’ Up already had Impressions dies to use with the impressions mat.  Now the Hot Foil dies are pretty much the same type of die.  A  bit smoother and they don’t cut thru paper or materials.   The Hot Foil dies can be included in with regular dies.  You will know by the packaging graphic as the gold color images are for hot foil or embossing and the black images are regular dies.

You may already have an “impressions” die set.
Opulent Oasis was one of the first impressions dies in the catalog last year (still avail on Last Chance list), Phrases & Frames.
A few new sets:   Elegantly Wrapped die set and Winter Adventures.
The smoother dies that will emboss well are a different color.

Video: Let’s Hot Foil: Start to Finish

I had several requests to show the Hot Foil process from beginning to end in real time.  I love watching all the short videos and reels showing the finished process but seeing the actual process can help, too. I did edit out the heating times since it was 6 minutes to heat it from cold to hot!

If you are already into hot foiling and have the process down, you can skip this one!

At the end of the video I used the Reverse Hot Foil die with my leftover foil from the Lustrous Leaves die.  I loved how it turned out!
It’s not showing well in photo but I used the Wood Grain Wonders designer paper in two different tones along with Copper foil.

Stampin’ Up added 4 more foil colors!  So far I’ve only tried the copper but I recommend it:

Utah Bound…

Hi all!

I’m heading to Salt Lake City to the Stampin’ Up home office on Tuesday for the Million Dollar Achiever Retreat!
I had hit that sales milestone last year and now the time is here to celebrate.
I had hoped to get a video up this weekend but I had a whole lotta shares to cut, package and mail out before I left!

rather than my personal page.   Matt will be going also and looks like we have a full agenda.
(I’m hoping to squeeze in some genealogy time at the big library there!)

Video: Accordion Side Step Fun Fold for Fall

I love how inspiration shows up!  One of the winners on my Stamping School Facebook page created fall fun fold and then I tried it!
(she was inspired by Julie Salva, who was inspired by Lisa Curcio, thanks girls! )

And it folds flat, which is great!

I changed up the process to make it a little bit easier and I like it….I hope you give it a try!
