Video: Easy Treats, No Tricks

Hi All!

I’m heading out to St. George, Utah for the Stampin’ Up Founder’s Circle achievers trip. I’m excited to see my friends and also see what SU has for their theme this year.  The event staff does amazing things with displays and sweets…I’ll be posting from there in between chocolate, lounging and stamping.  Feel sorry for me?  didn’t think so! I’m a lucky girl. Matt will be handling all calls for Stamping School if you need anything or want to say hello:)

I have 125 swaps to do before our swap on Thursday…wish me luck!  This year’s theme is easy, 2 layer cards.  That’s harder to do than a WOW card!

Ok, 2 more things before I show you the video!

#1.  Don’t forget to check my class schedule for Sept/October events!  I have stamp a stacks, technique classes, and more but you have to go to my calendar HERE.  There will be links to register for the mall and  card buffet class.  Be sure to click to the next month for October.

#2.  Free roll of ribbon with every $40 purchase until end of Sept!  Scroll down to see my post for details.

My video today requires no creativity or talent!  Look on page 27 of the Stampin’ Up Holiday catalog and you will see the Googly Ghouls and designer kit.  If you like giving little Halloween treats to the kids, the neighbors, the coworkers or sending your own little ghouls in to school with treats for the class, this is for YOU!

Watch how fast these go together! (sorry iphone/ipad users -you may not be able to see this one.  I didn’t want to you youtube for this one)

*9/18:  I found out that the clear plastic bags do not come with the glassine bags.  I just got a special treat in mine, I guess!

2012 SU Catalog links

Hey all!  Today is June 1st and as of 2 pm (Florida time) we can all officially order from the new SU catalog!  For those of you who ordered the paper shares/samplers with me, thank you and round 1 order has been placed!  For those of you that didn’t get in on round 1, just email me to be in Round 2 which will start on Monday.  I’m planning on a ribbon share starting next week also.

If you are still waiting on a SU catalog from me, I am told that bulk mail took longer than they anticipated and to give it til Monday.  sigh.  I know there are a few of you still waiting and I’m sorry. Next time I’ll mail them myself!  I was thinking they would get to you faster – silly me. They said they shipped on the 14th.  Maybe the mailman took yours home for a day 🙂  If you don’t get it by Monday, call or email me, ok?

This is a mini album folded from a 12×12 piece of cs and is about 3″ x 4″ when closed (I’ll be doing this for Stamping School, it was a neat lil project!)  It has a belly band around the album to hold it together.  It’s a cute stamp set and I’ll post a few more samples with that set later.

Sneak Peek and Gift from an Australian Friend!

I love meeting stampers, especially when they are here visiting from far away places!   This past weekend I met Teneale Williams from Sydney,  Australia.  She and her lovely family were here on a birthday holiday celebration and we met up for a little bit.  She is just delightful and you just have to bookmark her BLOG for some amazing creations and say hello!

Teneale surprised me with a hand stamped gift box and card.  When she handed the card to me in the envelope, I couldn’t believe the weight of it!  I wish you could feel it.

Gift for me created by Teneale Williams

With my jaw dropping, I said “It’s amazing!  And so heavy!”  She said “I like to make ’em chunky!”  We laughed and she said her customers think it’s to sell them more card stock and I said “I’m sold!”  I actually never thought of double layers of each color but it really makes a statement.

See how many layers? Each card stock layer is double!

The envelope and inside of the card was as lovely as the front.  (see the white baker’s twine on the inside?  Nice touch!)

And the box?  All stamped and sparkly was a gift by itself but then she filled it with a beautiful bookmark with our Window pane embellishment.  It was nestled in the box on top of paper shreds and little butterfly embosslits.

Teneale, you inspired me!  I’m going chunky…

Cork & 2011 Orlando Stampin’ Up! Regionals

Stampin’ Up was in Orlando this past weekend for a little mini convention!  Demonstrators like me came from all over Florida and some even from close states to stamp and learn for the day.  Stampin’ Up has several each year in different states, so they haven’t been here in FL for over 2 years.   They have one more left so I won’t post the pictures of their projects so I don’t spoil it for the last stop on their trip!

I will show you what I presented, though!  I was one of the lucky ones chosen to present what they call a Workshop Wow, which is a project that is easy to do but still shows a little something new.  I decided to play around with our CORK sheets that are on page 205 of the big Idea Book & Catalog:

You get 6 sheets, 6″ x 13″ per package for only 9.95!   I cracked up when someone said “We sell cork?  I didn’t even know we sold that!”

Here are the projects I demonstrated using different mediums. I’ll be doing videos for Stamping School for all these projects but just showing the pics here. (and for those of you on SSchool, these videos won’t count towards your weekly exclusive videos – just extras)

AND by the way, the Designer Series paper you see on these is a sneak peek from our upcoming Summer Mini Catalog!

This first one I showed is just putting it behind our pendant note.  I didn’t get a good pic of it before I gave it to SU after my demo so it’s cut off a bit!

This next one has circles cut with our Sizzix Circle #2 die and I attached our white Fleurettes on with brads:

Embossing on cork is my fav thing to do!  It gets a nice, glossy shine to the image with Craft Black ink and clear powder…

This is another way to alter and emboss the cork using craft, pigment ink and powder:

Just stamping on it with black StazOn and coloring with markers (and another sneak peek of a new stamp set…)

This was my favorite –  a little monogram note set and crystal effects on cork:

I hope that inspired you to get some cork!

Renovations & Revivals

I did a lot of stamping this week.   I mean, I always stamp but this week I stamped with a bunch of people!    What a a blast!   I had a technique class here at home in my new stamp room and the ladies were so much fun.   I showed them how to do Faux Metal and it was hysterical to see the embossing powder fly!  I even had some in my ears the next day and I’m sure they did, too!  At the end of the week,  I stamped with 64 Red Hat Queens! (they were all queens from their local chapters)  You haven’t stamped until you stamped with the Red Hat ladies.  I teamed up with Carolyn, one of the demonstrators on my team.  We needed at least 2 more of us to help but what a hoot and they sure did they entertain us!

So I’m behind a week in filling you in on a big announcement.  If you haven’t heard already, Stampin’ Up is rocking our stamp world a little with a Color Renovation!

Out with the Old, In with the New! Here are some of the new colors coming in:

Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight!

How about in with retired In Colors?  You heard it right!  Stampin’ Up has listened to all of us when we said we wanted some of our favorite In Colors to stay!

Wild Wasabi, Pacific Point, Pink Pirouette, Tangerine Tango, River Rock and Riding Hood Red! (I never saw this one coming!)

AND there will be 6 new In colors, too!  Those will stay for 2 years instead of one.

Here is a chart for what will be our new color collection beginning July 1st (not including the 5 new In Colors)

Click HERE to download and print

Exciting? You bet!  Sad to be losing some of my favorites?  You bet.  Happy that they are bringing back some of my favorite, retired In Colors?  Yep!  You know I always keep it real with you.   I’m all over the place with this big change.  One minute I’m so excited about getting some new colors and getting rid of the ones that I know are outdated.  The next minute I feel bad for my customers and demonstrators who were working towards completing their full collection over the years and now it’s all going to change.  I guess I can’t expect to walk into my favorite clothing store and see the same colors or style each year.  I sometimes force myself to use some of the colors I don’t like.  Isn’t that crazy?  I gradually bought all the colors simply because they were there. (I’m so goal oriented – check, check, check..)  Then all the papers, then all the markers.  I didn’t like all the colors but I bought them anyway. So going into this new color change, I’m buying what I like.  (and by the way, I do like a lot of the new colors!)  See what I mean? All over the place.

Overall, it’s going to bring more fun into my projects.  I can’t wait to play with some of the new colors!  Crumb Cake? Sounds yummy.

Stampin’ Up is a healthy, debt free, thriving business.  They make good business decisions with us in mind, our customers, demonstrators like me and of course for themselves and their employees.  They have researched and surveyed people for 2 years, coming to the conclusion that it was time to freshen & revive up the color palette.

It’s radical.  There isn’t any easing into it.  30 colors are retiring June 30th.   It’s like my friend Toni said, it’s better to just rip off the band aid quickly!   Here are the colors leaving and there is a link below the picture to print the PDF:

Click here to download the Farewell color PDF:  2010 Retiring Colors Chart

We all have 2-1/2 months to stock up on any favorites that will be retiring so take stock, make a list of any re-inkers you need or paper to go with those inks you want to keep using.

Stampin’ Up will be having some fill-in kits when the new colors come out.  I think I heard them say that the kits will be available to customers and demonstrators for a year.  There will be kits for markers, watercolor crayons and pastels to complete your current sets.

Matt and I will be heading to the Southern Caribbean (thanks to Stampin’ Up) next week and I hope I get to see some of the new colors in person!  It’s a little nuts to think that I’m more excited to see some ink pads rather than Barbados, right?

I’d love to hear your opinion on the new colors and retiring colors, good or not-s0-good, so leave me a comment!
