Why buy a box when you can make one…

I LOVE plaid, especially big and chunky buffalo plaid like this on a gift box or bag!

(By the way, Matt and I saw real buffalo in South Dakota a few weeks ago and wow, big and majestic!  The snorting, the thick fur and those eyes…. really impressive!)

Making boxes is very easy to do with just a little scoring and cutting the flaps.

Bottom of box:   8″ x 8″.  Score at 2” on all four sides. Cut flaps just like photo above.

Top of box: 6” x 6”.  Score at 1″ on all four sides. Cut flaps just like photo above.

 Belly band: 1” x 12”

Buffalo Plaid is still popular in fashion and home decor. Just google images for it and you will see a ton of stuff! Aren’t those ornaments cute? (found those at pottery barn)

The deer pillow is what inspired my box. The deer die is from Santa’s Sleigh from Stampin’ Up. Right now Stampin’ Up also this holiday paper called Merry Little Christmas.  With two buffalo plaid prints in the pack, I’m all in!

I’m heading to Utah tomorrow for our annual SU Convention called On Stage!  Hope to see many of  you there and while we can’t post pics of the sneak peeks yet, I can share swaps and other goodies on my Stamping School facebook page:  www.facebook.com/stampingschool

Feel Creative Today!

I wasn’t feeling creative today with a heavy schedule and to do list but I picked up a few of new markers and just started coloring.  And it felt good.  I felt creative and I think anyone can feel that way with these!

Coloring an image can be fun and yet sometimes frustrating!  We want to have that multi-dimensional, blended effect but regular markers leave lines and edges.  Stampin’ Up has added a new line of alcohol markers called Stampin’ Blends and they are officially available today!

See the 26 colors available now (more coming!) and a bundle deal flyer HERE

You can get one marker, or 2 markers or a bundle!  I love that individual markers are available since I tend to use a lot of the light Pool Party, for example.  Because they are not refillable but very reasonably priced at 4.50 a piece, I can just get just one if I need it.  If you do order the whole bundle now, they will come individually wrapped for freshness rather than in a box.

  • Two tips! Brush tip or fine-point bullet tip
  • Each color (except Ivory and Bronze) has a light and dark shade marker, available individually or in a combo 2-pack
  • Stampin’ Up has done in-house testing for evaporation and longevity and are really happy with the results
  • Press fit seal lids prevents air from entering the barrel and causing evaporation. They are also nest-able to stack while you are coloring.

SAVE BIG on the BUNDLE of BLENDS!

If you have been a demonstrator before or would like to try it out for the hobby discount or business, you can get the whole blends bundle in your starter kit and save a bunch!  In the starter kit, you can choose the bundle for $121.50 and pay only $99 plus tax and free shipping!   That’s a savings of around $34 on the bundle if you want to join SU in November with me.  The whole collection item number is #147475.

If you are new to alcohol markers, the Stampin’ Up Home office created 4 videos to watch:

Are you looking for a fun and easy card kit? The Color Me Happy Card Kit includes 16 adorable cards. You will need Pool Party, Night of Navy, Pink Pirouette, and Pumpkin Pie dark and light Stampin’ Blends to color.

You can buy the kit individually or as a bundle:

Color Me Happy Clear-Mount Stamp Set $19  #144069  (wood mount avail for $27)

Color Me Happy Project Kit $25  #144609

Color Me Happy Clear-Mount Bundle with stamps and kit for  $39.50  #148034

I did an extended tips video in Stamping School for this kit but here an overview from SU:

If you decide you want to order the new Blends from me, I have a completed color chart and gift for you!

Pick Your Potion…

I made up a few of these cute pizza boxes for friends for Halloween!

I used the Festive Phrases from the Holiday catalog, a cute multi-occasion stamp set int eh Holiday catalog. (page 45, #144960 $17)

About 11 M&Ms fit in the Treat Tubes.  The best part was eating all the other colors just so I could use just the orange and green ones:)

The Olive and Black buffalo plaid is from the Merry Little Christmas paper but I think it works well for Halloween, too!

Alcohol Markers are back on November 1st!

We’ve had them before but now they are new & improved with even more features to help bring out your inner artist!

See the 26 colors and bundle deal flyer HERE

I have a few videos using the new blends already in Stamping School, so be sure to login there and watch those.  Stampin’ Up will be releasing a few instructional videos also on Nov 1st! Here is a little commercial for the new markers from the Home Office….

witches Brew

Hi all!  This card was supposed to post on the 11th but I accidentally set it for 2016….sigh.  Technology is only as good as the human who uses it LOL

So it’s a tad late but I love this card!  My favorite part is the cobweb stamp on the cup.  There’s a 1/2″ cut off the front so the stripes on the inside of the card shows.  If you already own the Coffee Cafe framelits, this stamp set is a fun addition!

Coffee Cups Framelits Dies
#143745 Price: $30.00

Here is the stamp set, Merry Cafe, from the Holiday Catalog. It has fall, Halloween, Christmas, New Years and even love/Valentine option!

Merry Café Photopolymer Stamp Set #144965
Price: $17.00

I added some black sequins from the Metallic assortment.  I cut the pumpkin and the borders from the designer paper, Spooky Night.

Spooky Night Designer Series Paper #144610
Price: $11.00

Stampin’ Up has a few other samples using this versatile set!

I made 2 project videos with Merry Cafe for Stamping School for fall and Christmas, so if you are a member there be sure to watch those!

Sunflower Birthday Pizza Box

I have a lovely friend whose birthday is early November, so the sunflower stamped in fall colors is just perfect for a little somethin’ somethin’ to give her.  The Stampin’ Up Pizza Boxes are so cute and around 3-1/2″, so the tubes fit diagonally in them.

I found these Fall treats at Fresh Market! I was looking for little bits to fill our Treat Tubes. The left bag is little chocolate covered sunflower seeds and the right is Jelly Bellies.  Only 10 jelly beans fit in the tubes so  I went with the seeds instead. Great colors of curry, Cajun and pumpkin!

See the wooden leaf embellishment on the box? I used old olive and a sponge dauber but I actually liked it better in the  natural before I added color! Anyway, I hope she likes it!

Sprig and Ornament Pizza Box Video

I’ve been cutting and packaging up all the Holiday shares and they are ALL mailed!  Thanks to all who participated with me again this year and I really enjoyed putting them together! If you signed up for those, they should be arriving by Thursday or Friday this week.

I LOVE pizza.

Any kind….thin, thick, new york, detroit style, or chicago….I’ll take it all!  There’s a place here in town called Pi-Squared, detroit style pizza and it’s divine! However, I’ve been trying to eat better and cheese and pepperoni are not on the list as often so I have to substitute paper crafting with mini pizza boxes!

These are cute AND sturdy.  And food safe. And require no glue.  win win win!   You can find them on page of the Stampin’ Up Holiday catalog and come 8 in a package for only $6.  They are 3-1/2″ square and 1″ thick when assembled.

These would make a fun gift to add 3×3 cards and envelopes inside the box.  I used the designer paper from the Merry Little Christmas suite and the stamp set Merry Little Labels:

I had a question about how to attach the Green Sprigs and Mini Ornaments on projects like the pizza box so I made a quickie video:

This suite is unexpected in it’s color scheme because it’s just black and olive in color!  But add some sparkle and it quickly becomes a holiday! You can find the suite on pages 10-13 in the Stampin’ up Holiday Catalog:

Here are the supplies I used for the pizza box project!  If you’d like any of them for your own, get in touch or order online by clicking any of the items below:
