Best Dressed: Scene from an organized closet

Hi all! I’m sharing a few more samples from my presentation back in November in Atlanta at the Stampin’ Up On stage event:

I can guarantee my closet never looks like this…maybe one day if I do a big purge
and kick Matt out of his side LOL

There’s a sample in the seasonal catalog, page 54.  It has 2 shelves with shoes and purses.  It’s all fussy cut, right down to the straps of the shoes!
(I’m not sure how many of us will cut those out!)

So I needed to simplify to get the same feel without so much work.
The shoes are die cut out of designer paper with a little smoky slate blends marker along the inside.  The purse and bag are cut out of the designer paper but I used twine for the handle and added 2 pearls on the clutch (which sorta remind me cookie monster or another muppet for some strange reason)

Thankfully the shoes have a die!

The Pocket die you see below in the floral paper can be a sign like I used for my closet sample!  It can also be a purse or tote latch.

I love a pocket!  Here is the purse die with a mini greeting card in the pocket.

By the way, here if you love tassels like I do, you can use your Stampin’ Blends (alcohol marker) to ‘dip dye’ your tassels!   Dries so much faster than dipping in ink refills and far less messy!

Don’t forget it’s SALE_A_BRATION time!

Linda’s Health Update:
Thank you for your sweet get well cards, emails and phone calls!
I’ve had some encouraging reports over the last few weeks.  The latest CT scan shows improvement in my infection areas and my last drain was removed today.  They are watching it carefully to make sure it’s all really gone but I’m hopeful!
Now I’m working on getting my lungs back to normal and building endurance.
All in all, I’m doing better!

Best Dressed: Backpack

(taken November 17th, 2019 in Atlanta)

Back in November, I was honored to be asked to demonstrate the new Best Dressed Suite at the Atlanta On Stage Stampin’ Up conference.  It’s a really fun suite and you can find it on pages 54-56 of the new seasonal catty.

I thought I’d share some of my favorite projects this week from my demo.
One is taking the cute tote/purse die and making it into a backpack!

I used a stitched Oval die to create the top of the backpack.
The long stitched belts are just looped around to create the straps.
I added a velcro dot to hold it closed.   The little yellow button is paper and from the dies.
What to put in it?  It’s just the right size for a small treat, about 3-13/4″ tall x 3-1/4″ wide at bottom (and 2-1/2″ at top) if pleated in like the backpack.
If you open the gussets for more a ‘tote’ look, it’s 4-1/2″ wide.

The paper is from Best Dressed, which is all floral on one side!  I love the bright, happy colors.  Blackberry is used so much in the winter and fall but it’s nice to see it used here for spring projects, too.

Here is the video from the home office showing this suite up close:

The Best Dressed suite is what I demonstrated at the On Stage in November. It’s really fun and the Tote/Purse die is the cutest!   I’ll post my samples soon.

I’m a goner for anything Argyle….the papers are so fun even if you don’t golf!

Linda’s health update:
I wish I was up to stamping and videos but I’m not there yet. It’s taken me a few days to do this post LOL.  After 3-1/2 weeks in the hospital, I came home on Dec 17 so I was able to be home for Christmas.  Lots of challenges like fluid in my lungs so I’ve been working like crazy to get rid of that painful stuff.  I still have a drain/port for the infections and hope the antibiotics are doing their job to get rid of it. My actual surgery is healing well, it’s all the complications that are the trouble.   I went down to the stamp room and couldn’t believe how the stairs did me in!  So I’m good to walk around about 10 minutes then have to rest.  So my day is lots of meds, breathing exercises, walking, rest, repeat.  Not as much fun as stamping but every day is a little bit better.

I’m able to place email orders and those that like to call me to order, feel free to do so.
I’d love to chat.

Now the PERSONAL  update –  I think most of you know a little about my surgeries and complications. I’m still here in the hospital, lots of pain and challenges but I’ll explain a bit here to wrap up from the parts and pieces of my Stamping School Facebook Page, too.  Last July-ish I did my part to do the annual colonoscopy, which showed I had a 3 inch or so diploma attached in there.  It didn’t appear to be cancerous but had to come out since it was stopping the way.   The only way it comes out if the Dr. takes about the large colon, throws that out, re-attaches the small intestine and snaps the magic fingers and all works again.

But it didn’t.  2 days later it was evident there was a leak, that the repair patch hadn’t worked.  The scar tissue from 25 years ago hysterectomy came back to get me.  So I went back in to surgery, tore it all apart and tried to repair but we are still in process.    Lots of pain, water that needs to come off legs lungs and heart and did I say pain??  So i’ll be focusing on doing my part to keep going here.  I won’t be blogging much (or If I do, friends may help me)  and if you need orders placed, I’m afraid it will have to placed online HERE while I’m in hospital.

I love to give ordering gifts as you know but I cannot promise to get them out as timely this month – I don’t know when I even get to come home yet.
thank you for supporting me with your prayers, thoughts and good vibes!

Christmas Rose Upcycled Bottles

We recently had a craft day in our neighborhood and we painted some bottles.
(Not sure why we all had so many empty wine and mead bottles:)
I threw some acrylic paint, gloves, Mod Podge and a hot glue gun in my bag and at the last minute grabbed some of the Christmas Rose designer paper.

My friend Jan has already spray painted this bottle with a cream speckled paint:

I cut out some of the flowers from the paper
and glued them on with the Mod Podge.

After adhering all the flowers, I lightly brushed some gold shimmer paint in long strokes over the whole bottle. I hot glued the twine, leaves and pine cones to make it more festive|
(thank you, Cathy for the pine cones!)

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like it, the vintage look can be a hit or miss with me but in the end I like how it came out!

If you are feeling crafty today, check your designer paper scraps and the recycle bin
and see what you can create!

The Christmas Rose suite of products is available until the end of November
(you can see them all in my store HERE)
