Being a SU Demo, people think I never go into craft stores but I do sometimes.
Although Stampin’ Up carries a huge catalog of products, they can’t possibly carry it all.
The craft world is MASSIVE, isn’t it?
Sometimes I run into my customers and they hide their baskets behind their back and say “why, what are YOU doing here?!” LOL
I found these up near the register at a local craft store chain:
I believe they were $1.00 each, some had snowmen, some had stars. Just cute little balsa wood boxes, about 3″ wide and 4″ tall.
They just jumped off the shelf and into my cart begging me to adopt them for a makeover.
I braided the Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine to make more sturdy handles. I like the way it coordinates with the designer paper that looks woven.
Like I say in the video, you can buy a box quicker than make this BUT why not make it?
It’s fun, you get your craft on, you know you have enough stuff to make 10 of them 🙂 and it feels so GOOD to give something that you made with your own 2 hands.

I’ve received SO many requests for making the ornamant on the cover of the Stampin’ Up Holiday catalog. Lots here from my blog, from my customers and on Stamping School, also. It’s really beautiful and it’s not as complicated as it looks although a little time consuming with all the stamping and cutting out with the framelits. I had very little directions from SU so I just played around with how to do it my way 🙂
I did add a few rhinestones in the cherry cobbler tulle ribbon. Here is the back that I would personalize to put on a present, bottle of wine or wrapped gift or tree ornament gift:
I also made another version that is a lot quicker without the stamping, so be sure to watch that one after the first one. p.s. the first one is 19 minutes…even with editing, it’s a long one!

Hi All! I LOVE embossing folders and with the new SU catty, we have 5 new designs! (ok, one has 2 in the package so technically 4, but I’m counting them as 2 designs) They can be overlooked in the catalog so I’m spotlighting them here as well as a video today.

Elegant without being too frilly!
I noticed right away that the new folders are longer than last year’s models. These are around 6-1/2″ long and won’t fit horizontally in the Big Shot. I recently found out that it is b/c the UK stampers have longer cards than we do. I think their standard is 6″ so they are really excited!
With the longer length of folder, we need to adjust and tweak the way it runs through our machines. Vertical designs are no problem and proceed as usual. Horizontal card folds will require the adjustment.
7/15/12 Update: I ended up cutting a 1/4 inch off of my folders so I can use them both directions:) You certainly don’t have to but I like options.
Hi All! I had so much fun opening my first order from the new Stampin’ Up catalog! I thought I’d share a few things with that I found surprising (in a good way mostly) and highlight a few in video:

Someone asked me the other day if I kicked them off my blog feed since they hadn’t received a post in a while. I cringed when I realized it’s been a while since I posted! With Sale-A-Bration going on and lots of stamp-happenings, I’ve neglected to post some of the great swaps I’ve received in January and February.
Before I forget another thing – I have a stamping class this weekend in Orange City, FL (which is between Sanford and Debary area) with a few of demonstrators on my team, Iina and Toni. If you live near there and want to attend the class you can find details HERE.

This is one of my favorites and was created by Debra Townsend in Sacramento. She always does beautiful work and I didn’t even like this stamp before I saw this card! The stamp is in the Occasions mini and called Packed for Baby. She used Pool Party as the main color.
Here is another swap by Deb Townsend using the new Simply Scrappin’ kit called Spring Fever and the new Doily Die. Love the pear pleated ribbon she used inside the doily circle.
Jeanne Harris created this beauty using Bordering on Romance (Occasions mini) and the new Edgelits. I can’t even imagine how long it took to line up the edgelits and the folders on each side! The center flower is Cracked Glass Technique and you can see it better here:
Several layers of clear embossing powder and then put it in the freezer for a few minutes. Bring it out and crack it up!
Lela M created this vintage-y card using Soft Suede, Attic Boutique DSP and So Saffron. The framelits and Apothecary Art are made to go together!

Tarri Trombley embossed the Tea Shoppe cup in white ink/powder and rested it on Baja Breeze card stock, Blushing Bride and Twitterpated paper.Love that lil’ button!
Emily Turner sponged some pool party and Daffodil on some Attic Boutique paper and it really is pretty! That was my least favorite flower in the Mixed Bunch stamp set and now it’s one of my favs.
going to stop here for today, run off to watch The Bachelor…I know, I know….but I hooked now and there’s no turning back.

Here at the Heller house in New Hampshire, the presents have been unwrapped, batteries placed in the appropriate toys, and lots of happy, warm memories can fill our scrapbooks. I was hoping for a little bit of snow falling on me but I see it on my shoes when I walk outside so that’ll have to do. I love the nippy weather and can wear my fluffy winter coat at least this week and then back to Florida where it will go back into the closet.

Each year my team can participate in a hand made gift exchange when we get together in December. It’s optional and almost everyone takes part. Everyone stands in a circle while I read my version of Lefty, the stamping elf. All kinds of gifts are passed left and right as my story says Left and Right until it stops and the gift in your hand is yours to keep!

Wanda Smith made an adorable lampshade out of the new Rosette Die! She said she saw the shape as she was putting her rosette together and discovered a lampshade instead!
Cathy Wirt said she used liquid floor polish, swirled around inside the ornament, to act as a glue for the glitter to stick! Love it!

If you haven’t seen the new Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series paper from Stampin’ Up, it has 2 cool sheets of laser cut doilies in there! One is Melon Mambo and one is Pumpkin Pie. BUT my favorite side of those is the other side, which is white. I cut them apart and use them as accents or focal points like the quick and easy note cards above.

I had a great time presenting at the Stampin’ Up convention last Wednesday night at the kick off party! It was such a nice compliment to be asked and I was in great company with my other booth buddies LeeAnn Greff (punches), Lyssa Zwolenek (Flirtatious Suite), Jan Tink (backgrounds) , Susan Campfield (ribbons), Brandi Wiggins (Big Top Suite), Lisa Freeman (Distressing) and Fran Sabad (Beau Chateau).
It was cool to see my name on the big sign! They said I could take it home with me but I didn’t think I’d have room in my already-over-the-limit-heavy suitcase and then what would I do with it once I got it home?
Baking Buttons: Organization
Button Organization on a cookie sheet - Linda Heller
Stampin’ Up asked me to feature a cute stamp set called Button Buddies, which in our new Idea Book & Catalog. They also said to come up with storage ideas. I thought a cookie sheet (cheap one from Old Time Pottery 1.99) would be an inexpensive and easy way to organize all of our buttons. I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch holes for the ribbon. The cookie sheet is about 11 x 17″ inside and fits all 4 color groups which have 6 colors in each. 24 containers fit perfectly!
I’m uploading my Baking Buttons template (Thanks to my wonderful husband, Matt, who made up the template for me!) It’s a PDF and you can print, cut into strips and punch with a 1-3/4″ circle puch if you want to make one, too! Click HERE for template.

Use SU stack & Store containers and Circles #2 die with SU magnet sheets. Punch cs circle with 1-3/4" circle punch.
That Circle #2 was just made to cut our magnet sheets to put on the bottom of our Stack & Store containers or if you have the button/brad containers already.
I did a little “Stampbuster” experiment with our magnet sheets! I bought some from a craft store and tried them out to see which were stronger. HANDS DOWN, Stampin’ Up’s were way stronger! You should have seen the other brand slide down the cookie sheet once the buttons were in there!
Skinnhy Button Storage using our clear mount stamp cases - Linda Heller
If space is limited, you can put your buttons in our clear mount empty stamp cases. I used a 1/2″ circle punch for the color cs dots with some glue to see what colors are inside. I like being able to see and grab the color quickly. 4 cases have the 4 color groups seperated, Brights-Regals-Subtles-Neutrals. I do keep a rubber band around the bottom if standing upright just in case they fall off my shelf!
I have lots of projects using the Button Buddies that I came up with for my presentation. I made some videos of some of those and will post throughout the week so c’mon back for more buttons!
