I have officially mailed out the NEW 2014-2015 Stampin UP catalogs to all who have requested one here on the blog or otherwise.
I mailed them all out on Monday, so if you have not received yours by today, please email me! Over the years I’ve learned about 5% never make it.
Those of you I’m seeing this week, you will get yours in person.
“PIN-spired”
In the wee hours, if I find the Ipad on my nightstand, I might visit Pinterest. If I’m feeling unorganized, there’s a million ways to solve any problem. If I’m feeling plump that day, I may look for healthy recipes. If I’m feeling lonely, I look at boston terrier puppies….Pinterest is the fix for just about mood 🙂
Sometimes I look through the stamping and papercrafting, save a few for inspiration.
Sadly, this one had no name or watermark on it, as it often happens on Pinterest. I loved the color combo of Chocolate Chip, Cherry Cobbler and So Saffron. We don’t have the eyelets or that stamp anymore, but I made my own version of it.
Here’s my “PIN-spired” version:
I used the stamp set in the Occasions catalog called So Very Grateful, which will not be carrying over into the new catty so if you want it, get it before June 1st.
16.95 Clear Mount, # 133053
Pansy Punch for the flower, Bird Builder punch for the leaves. We have a super cool new DSP coming out in the new catty called Typeset – thin newsprinty paper that will be SO useful for lots of projects.
Thank you for the inspiration, wherever you are!

Here are this week’s weekly deals from Stampin’ UP:
Hi All! I had so much fun opening my first order from the new Stampin’ Up catalog! I thought I’d share a few things with that I found surprising (in a good way mostly) and highlight a few in video:
New and Improved Ink Pads are Fabulously Juicy and Great Coverage! Watch SU company video explaining the new pads. (all the same colors, just new improved pad 🙂
(Note to the Roadies on my Stampin’ Up Team: I posted a video from Janet’s demo from our get together in case you couldn’t be there. Go to the Roadies page here on the blog and enter the team password.)
Hi All! Matt and I had a fun road trip to Winchester, VA for our 7th anniversary (see his page on the blog for pics along the way)! We realized that we don’t go away very often for non-stamping related events. Usually our big trips are with our stamping friends on the SU incentive trips or conventions so this time was just the two of us! He’s great fun and up for anything so we had some unusual stops along the way!
On the stamping scene, here are some of the swaps and ‘show & share’ samples from our demo get together here in FL at the end of February.
TO VIEW SLIDESHOW: Click on the first picture, it will take you to a bigger page where you should see an arrow to theright to scroll through. Enjoy! Linda

Another NEW and cool product coming out in the Stampin’ Up 2010 Occasions Mini Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Catalog is a new punch. Actually, 4 punches. There are 2 new corner punches and coordinating edge punches, so you can punch a border all around your project!
Stampin’ Up is supposed to be creating a video for demonstrators to show us how to use it, but it’s not out yet and I had to hunker down and play with them. It seemed to work great for me using specific sizes of paper but I wanted it to work with any size of paper. So in walks Matt ( my stampin’ husband aka Man Card Man and Big Shot Hero guy) and he gets intrigued to help me figure it out. Within about 10 minutes he does as I look on amazed and wonder why HE isn’t the demonstrator! Anyway, in this video I show you part One and he shows you part Two with his method:

(there are 2 posts and 2 videos so if viewing from a feed in your email, you will need to come to the blog here to view videos)
The new Stampin’ Up Occasions Mini Catalog opens up on January 5th, 2010! As demonstrators, we can preorder those to play with and tease you with sneak peeks during December. If you would like a copy of this mini catalog and the Sale-A-Bration mini catalog (and you don’t have a demonstrator already or are a demonstrator) click here to send me your mailing address and I’ll pop one in the mail asap!
Oh, and by the way – Stampin’ Up is going to have12 days of GREAT sales starting Friday, December 11th, so stay tuned here for info as they release the details!
On to showing you something NEW and FUN!
Stampin’ Up has a new option to mount our rubber stamps! They are not getting rid of the wood blocks but offering another option for those that prefer the space saving solution of clear blocks. We are not selling clear stamps but rather a clever way to mount the rubber temporarily to a clear block and then remove to store in a slim, DVD type cases. SU will be offering the new clear mounts and well as wood mounted for all new stamps coming out!
Those of you that saw my ‘just out of the box’ video with my Occasions Mini Catalog goodies know that I owe you a new video for mounting our unmounted stamps! I didn’t read any directions and just went for it but didn’t do it exactly as the instructions showed. So far, I’ve noticed 2 ways to mount these so I made a quick video for you:
I’ve received a bunch of emails about whether I’m changing over to all clear mounts. I don’t think so at this point. I love the wood blocks and will probably keep using the wood blocks. I do like the option of spending less and saving room so I will buy some clear mounts also. I like being able to stamp fast, each stamp having it’s own block all the time. I think stamping in big groups and classes can get tricky with sharing the acrylic blocks. but I’ll give it a go and see what happens! If I were just stamping at home for fun by myself or a few friends and needed the extra space, then I’d probably switch over. I like the idea of spending less, especially on sets I buy that I might use less or for one occasion. I guess once I use them more, I’ll make a decision!
Hi Stampers! A few weeks ago I uncovered a box of old blender pens that I have had for over 10 years! As my blender pens started to get dried out (and the tips too mushy to color in details like the beaks of birds and little eyeballs) I replaced them with new ones. Over and over again -now I have a box of 40 or so that have accumulated and remind me of how much I spent on just blender pens!
I’ve tried to refill my pens before but didn’t give it a real effort. It was too easy to buy new ones. The refill recipe couldn’t work as well as a new pen – or could it?
These recipes have been around a long time with lots of different variations. I pulled up several through searches on Google and found one that popped up over and over so that is what I used:
1/4 tsp. rubbing alcohol
2 tsp. glycerin
4 tsp. distilled water
For the experiment, I stamped a bird in black StazOn several times on watercolor cardstock and on whisper white cardstock. Each bird represented a different coloring medium – Watercolor Crayon, marker, watercolor pencil, classic ink and pastels. Then I colored each one with a refilled blender pen and then a new one. (too much time on my hands or just obsessive…?)
Here are my “scientific” findings to answer the question for myself once and for all! (and maybe it can help you to save your abandoned blender pens, too)
*A few days after making the video, I found out that submerging the pen barrel in the solution WAS too much. I know, you told me but I just had to try it….! Just put an 1/8 tsp inside the barrel and that’s it!)

Next week, I’ll debunk the many theories of embossing and static reduction!
Linda
p.s. Almost forgot! Remember last week’s punching our soda cans to sharpen them? Look what Marni Levett did using those punched out soda can pieces!
I know I had told you I would test out Blender Pen refill recipes but had a terrific-ly busy week and didn’t make it to the store for glycerin. I promise next Sunday I’ll post the video for that!
I LOVE my Stampin’ Up punches. They add a little bit extra to projects, save time from cutting out stamped images AND they are easy to use. Over time, they seem to get a bit dull. I’ve tried the tin foil method, the wax paper to help them glide better but it doesn’t really sharpen as much as I would like.
My demonstrator buddy, Toni Ballesteros, shocked me when she said we could sharpen our punches using soda cans. (maybe some of you already do this but news to me).
In Mythbusters style, I’m testing to see if it REALLY does sharpen my punches or does it ruin it forever?
