Video: 5 Ways to use Eden’s Garden Suite

Hi All!

This week I spent a day using the Eden’s Garden Suite.
It’s a new suite of products that is an early release bundle along with 3 other limited-time items.    The Bundle with stamps and dies will be in an upcoming catalog but the Cotton 12×12 paper, Garden Gems and 12 x 12 Designer paper are while supplies last and will not be in the upcoming catalog.

Here is my video and right below the video is the link to the printable Recipe/Measurements PDF

You can see the leafy oval garland dies above.  It’s big enough to cover a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer pretty well.

Most projects I have seen using this suite are all green in color, designed by the suite which is monochromatic with White, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen.  I decided to pair the dies with a few other color combos and try to use the dies for other layouts.

For the smaller gold frame, I cut the large oval wreath into 4 pieces and created a rectangle. I love Blackberry Bliss and gold together!

This card is a Blushing Bride card base with a Calypso Coral layer.  I stamped it with the Eden Garden stamps all over as a background and then embossed it with a texture folder.  I used the Meadow dies for the flowers.

When I saw the little floral frame dies, I saw the potential for a bird’s nest!
I used Crumb Cake cardstock to cut the little frame and snipped it into 4 pieces to create the nest. I crumpled a piece of the Eden Cotton paper to create the faux silk effect.

here is a traditional green/gold card using the Eden designer paper.  I love the shiny gold on the paper!
The edge die is 6″ so it’s easy to snip it in 1/2 for a 3″ border on the paper.

And lastly, a gate fold!
Yes in green but using the Tidings of Christmas 6×6 Designer paper. I love the little delicate frame on the inside!

We have a starter kit sign up special this month!

Should you Join Stampin’ Up?

Hi all!
Stampin’ Up has a sign up/join special starting Nov 4th -Nov30th
$75 to join and choose $125 in products in your kit!

Is it right for you?

22 years ago, I joined Stampin’ Up just to get a discount.  I was a brand new stamper and at that time the starter kit was around $300!   AND it wasn’t customizable as it is today.  I had started stamping cards, buying odd bits of stuff from craft stores that never really worked together and when I found Stampin’ Up I knew it was what I needed because of the coordinating papers, ribbons, inks and papers.   Seemed to make sense to invest in things that went together!

I never planned to ‘sell’ stamps.  Then things began to change when I made cards and sent them to friends…can you show me how to make those?  Can we have a stamping day? Can I invite people?  As it grew, I decided to try to do it full time 5 years later.

I have a large team of stampers and many do it for the discount on their own supplies. Sometimes they have a friend or 2 that like to stamp and they all place orders together.  Lots of stampers on my team get together with their friends once a month to stamp together and collect a few orders.   Is it right for you?

You may want to be a Demonstrator If….

If you already place stampin’ Up orders monthly or $300 total every 3 months.
You could place the orders yourself and save a bit.  (I can show you how to place orders)  As a demo, you start 20% commission, which they call instant income. So if you placed a $100 order for yourself,  it would be 80.00 with the $20 commission plus tax and shipping on the $100.  So your order total as a demonstrator would be  $97 instead of 117.00 retail with tax and shipping. ( I used 7% tax as an sales tax average)   The discount goes up as we do more.

You may want to be a Demonstrator If….

If you love Stampin’ Up products and want to be in on the preorders and early release sneak peeks.
As a demo we get to order a month early each new catalog.
And yes, we can still earn host rewards for our own purchases.

You may want to be a Demonstrator If….

If you already get together with friends to stamp together.
One of you can sign up as a demonstrator and place orders together.  It’s an easy way to reach the $300 a quarter together.

You may want to be a Demonstrator If….

If you are a natural teacher/sharer and love to help others learn to stamp.
(This was me, altho I wanted the discount, there was such satisfaction to help others make cards! )
I started small with 4 or 5 people, prepping projects and teaching the art of stamping.
Making extra money from class fees helped me fill my craft room!

You may want to be a Demonstrator If….

If you hate spending money on tax and shipping. (this was me, too)
With the 20% commission, it really can be compared to tax and shipping free on your purchases:)

It may not be right for you if….

You like being a great customer instead of a demonstrator/shopper – that’s ok!
I love my customers and love helping making decisions, inspiration and hearing about what’s happening in life.
Maybe you don’t want to place your own orders on the computer (altho you can call your orders in to SU, which helps some who don’t like computers:)

What’s the catch?

No catch. No Strings.
Honestly, choosing what you want in the starter kit is the hardest part. There is a contract to electronically sign, you add a social security number and a checking account in case you make extra commissions and they put money in your account, which is nice!
you can stop anytime.  If you don’t meet the $300, then they just drop your demo ID number and access to the demo website.
That’s it.  No penalties, no pay-backsies.

To stay active in Stampin’ Up, it’s a $300 in orders (one or many, it doesn’t matter) each quarter.
We are in our first quarter, October-November-December.  Those that join and purchase the starter kit get the rest of the quarter free, no more orders required. So the first $300 isn’t due until end of March!  (and any order placed between start date and March counts towards the $300)  Our quarters run Oct-Dec, Jan-March, Apr-June and July-Sept.

During November, choose $125 in any products from the Annual Catalog or the Holiday catalog (or some from each).
Pay only $75 and your sales tax.  And FREE shipping!

Video: Sharing 35 Birthday Card Ideas

Hi Friends!
Birthdays…we all have them, right?

I remember how excited I was to finally hit the double digits when I turned 10 years old.
Then 16, 18 and 21 (which I really was robbed on that one because I had my wisdom teeth removed)
30 was still a good year!  Then the 40th celebration was the black balloons, over the hill banners….
50 was fantastic, wise enough to know we are lucky to be here and enjoying friends and family.
Now my next big party will be 65 I guess!

Matt and I both had birthdays this past week.
I’m grateful to be healthy, friends near and also across the miles.
Cards arrived in my mailbox almost daily over the last few weeks and that feeling of warmth, a smile when I see the return address and then the fun of opening each one to see what the sender created.  I treasure each one.
Each card is unique and special!
Instead of one project this week, I thought I’d share them all with you and hope you see a design or layout you’d like to try,
a new twist on a stamp set or paper you already have!

Oh, and be sure to watch at the end  – there is a really great book that is a MUST for cardmakers!
(Thank you Cindy for the book!)

Joy Ride: Joyful Life Stamp Set

Why did I wait so long to use this cute set?
Look at the smart piggy, holding a tea or coffee which will be perfect for a gift card this season.
It’s called Joyful Life (no dies, just a stand alone set)

I had a friend in mind when I made this card.
She’s always up for a spontaneous joy ride or shopping trip or just about any adventure!

I wanted to create a road rather than a grassy hill (less dangerous LOL) for them to ride down.
A few leaves kicking up as they ride by since it’s fall:)
I stamped in Basic Gray and added color with the Blends alcohol markers
I drew my line with a ruler and a Basic Gray marker for my ‘road’

I didn’t make a regular video this week but I did take photos along the way while I made the card.
If you’d like to see the process, here it my little video slideshow
(if you can’t see it below, here is the LINK)

Here is another cute sample from the Stampin’ Up home office:

The little windows were created using the Picture this die:

I hope you all have a great week and

Video: Reverse Spotlighting Technique

This week I was going through some old stamping videos of mine, at least 10 years ago (gee whiz, time really does fly!)  and I found this fun technique called Reverse Spotlighting.  You can use with punches or dies and it really makes an impact in person!

Here is this week’s video!

Oh by the way, Stampin’ Up announced that something special is coming October 20th….not sure if it’s a sale, or something new or?
Will keep you posted!

Video: Tips for Stamping on a Velvet Paper

Velvet paper is just a little extra texture, more warm fuzzies than regular paper but there are a few tricks to getting the ink to set. In this week’s video I’m showing some experiments, some that worked, some that didn’t:)
Also be sure to note my tip for how to put box together if you end up getting these!

The Kraft boxes are nice, large size! 10 good safe boxes for $10. (Don’t Forget to take the protective film off of the window!)

I can fit about 5 regular A2 sized cards/Envelopes in the box for a nice gift!
(Card shown created by Janet Munden)

And yes, white squirrels are real! Not an albino but a recessive gene that causes some to be born white. They are like little unicorns around here a delight to see! My neighbor Stefan took this photo and gave it to me in a frame as a gift.

Here is my post from July using these cute squirrel stamps –
